Pretty young co-ed Claire (Young) loves university bandleader Johnny Saunders (Frank Albertson). But after graduation they part--Claire moves to New York City and John travels to Paris with his orchestra. Claire quickly lands a job with an ad agency, where she is tempted by her boss' (Ricardo Cortez) offer to promote her career in return for favors outside the office. When Johnny returns from Paris, his band rockets to fame--with Claire's help. But Johnny's celebrity attracts blonde, gold-digging Pearl (Blondell).
